The load and haul cycle of any production opencast mine is often overlooked as it is often thought to run itself. With well trained operators, this may be true and things may appear to be running well, however there may be a host of problems lurking below the surface. It is often a case of, "if everything is working it must be all right"

When one considers the size and cost of these load and haul machines, working is not enough, continuous fine tuning is required.

All of Robertson Consulting consultants are trained to CPCS standard in the UK and have many years of operating and supervisory experience. Most of our consultants are CPCS trainers on excavators and dump trucks.

A lot of time can be lost when machines are not properly utilised, this in an industry where time really does mean money!

Some things which can be looked at are haul roads, their maintenance, excavator positioning and dump truck speeds.
